AI Gateway 3.14 extends Kong's control plane to agent-to-agent and MCP traffic.
Kong is planting a flag as the governance layer for agentic AI infrastructure — a category that didn't meaningfully exist 12 months ago. By adding least-privilege permissions and end-to-end visibility for agent-to-agent traffic, Kong is defining evaluation criteria before most buyers even know they have this problem. Competitors in API management (Apigee, AWS API Gateway) haven't publicly moved here yet, giving Kong a window to own the 'AI traffic control' narrative with enterprise buyers building multi-agent systems.
In emerging infrastructure categories, the platform that defines the governance vocabulary often becomes the default before buyers know they had a choice.
Who owns the governance narrative in your category before buyers start asking for it?
